On its third try in the state finals, Armstrong-Ringsted finally won it all.
Craig Tigges caught three touchdown passes in a record-setting performance and Tyler Tonderum ran for three more scores, leading Armstrong-Ringsted past defending champion Lenox 49-30 Friday for the eight-player state title.
Armstrong-Ringsted lost in the championship game the last two years, including a 34-32 setback to Lenox in 2008.

LAKE FOREST, Ill. The Chicago Bears placed backup running back Garrett Wolfe on injured reserve Friday, ending his season.
The team listed a kidney injury for Wolfe, who told the Chicago Tribune in a text message that he suffered a lacerated kidney on the opening kickoff of a game against Arizona on Nov. 8.
The Bears elevated running back Kahlil Bell from the practice squad to replace Wolfe.

STILLWATER, Okla. Brandon Weeden is now the backup quarterback for No. 12 Oklahoma State after leading a come-from-behind win against Colorado.
Cowboys coach Mike Gundy announced Friday that Weeden has "earned the No. 2 spot" behind injured starter Zac Robinson.
Weeden had been the third-string quarterback before taking over for backup Alex Cate in the second half of OSU's 31-28 win against Colorado on Thursday night.

My actions as a parent concerned about his son's playing time led to irresponsible conduct on my part.

OWINGS MILLS, Md. Baltimore Ravens defensive end Dwan Edwards plans to appeal the $5,000 fine he received for a hit delivered to Cleveland Browns wide receiver Joshua Cribbs on Monday night.
Edwards struck Cribbs with a forearm to the facemask on the final play of Baltimore's 16-0 win.
Edwards was flagged for unnecessary roughness and ultimately fined by the league.

The NFL Players Association opposes commissioner Roger Goodell's call for players to tell their teams' medical staffs if they think a teammate shows symptoms of a concussion.
NFLPA assistant executive director George Atallah tells The Associated Press on Friday that Goodell's suggestion is not an adequate solution.
Atallah says that instead of wanting players "to police each other," the league should make sure doctors keep a closer eye on players.

Gani Lawal had 18 points and 14 rebounds to lead No. 21 Georgia Tech to a 70-62 victory over George Mason on Friday in the consolation round of the O'Reilly Auto Parts Puerto Rico Tip-Off.
Lawal scored six of his team's last 15 points as the Yellow Jackets (2-1) held off a late rally by the Patriots.
Derrick Favors scored 18 points for Georgia Tech. He had six points in a 13-0 run that gave the Yellow Jackets a 43-23 lead with 15 minutes to play.
The Patriots (2-2) did not get closer than six points
